If Samuel is anything like some of the kids we have had, he is excited to leave foster care - and also scared to death to go back home. As it was getting close to one of our 9 year olds to go home, I asked her if she ahd any questions. She had so many that it was overwhelming and we decided that she would use special stationary to write them down and give to her therapist to talk about. Those questions were so insightful and so heartbreaking. If you get a chance...maybe you could ask Samuel to write down any questions he has about what has happened or what he thinks is going to happen. It could help lead to a conversation that would allow you to address more misconceptions and concerns that he has.

I really admire how much you have given to Samuel in the time that you have had him. It has been a challenging case and you have had amazing patience.

Try to find out about the hearing and eye testing that will be done in Samuel's new school. Contact the school nurse and have her to schedule hearing and vision testing for him. The people in school are very good about following up on requests from parents and/or foster parents. Keep the faith, things will get better. Kathy
